We are so excited to launch The Blue Jays Cheer & Dance Club in our community this spring. Our club is a beginner-friendly cheer and dance program for girls ages 6–14, created to help girls build confidence, teamwork, spirit, and sisterhood in a positive and encouraging environment.

2026 Spring Introductory Session

Ages: 6–14

Dates: April 14 – May 23

Practice Days: Tuesdays & Thursdays

Time: 6:00–7:30 PM

Location: Phase 2 Playground

Cost: Free 6-week spring introductory session

Our program includes cheer and dance instruction, community-building, and intentional opening and closing circles that help girls grow socially and emotionally alongside their skill development.

Please make sure your child brings:

  • a water bottle
  • a towel or small blanket to sit on
  • comfortable clothing and athletic shoes

Please note that we begin our opening circle promptly at the start of each session.

We also have a public Facebook page where updates and announcements will be shared. Families will have the option to opt out of public photos during registration. We also plan to have a professional photographer attend one of our sessions during the season.

As a new and growing club, we are also excited to offer volunteer and sponsorship opportunities for families and community members who would like to support the growth of the program.

Founded by an Educator Who Understands Girls Beyond the Surface

The Blue Jays Cheer & Dance Club was founded by Dr. Chantal Barr, an experienced educator with a background in teaching, school leadership, and child development. With years of experience serving children and families as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, and educational leader, Dr. Barr brings a deep understanding of what helps young people grow not only academically, but socially and emotionally as well.

Her work in education has always centered children as whole people. That means understanding that confidence, connection, encouragement, structure, belonging, and positive relationships are not extras. They are essential.

Blue Jays was built from that same philosophy.

Rather than creating a program that focuses only on performance, Dr. Barr designed Blue Jays to be a place where girls are developed in a fuller way. The club combines movement, encouragement, team-building, and intentional community experiences so girls can strengthen both their skills and their sense of self.

More on Our Philosophy:

At The Blue Jays Cheer & Dance Club, we believe girls deserve more than a place to practice skills. They deserve a place to belong.

Our philosophy is rooted in the belief that cheer and dance can be powerful tools for growth when they are paired with encouragement, structure, and intentional community. Yes, girls are learning movement, rhythm, teamwork, and discipline. But they are also learning how to show up, connect with others, build confidence, and be part of something bigger than themselves.

That is the heart of Blue Jays.

We Lead with Community

Blue Jays is a community-based program first.

That means we care deeply about the environment the girls are entering into. We want them to feel welcomed, included, supported, and seen. We believe that the strongest programs are not built only on performance. They are built on relationships, trust, and a sense of belonging.

We are intentionally creating a culture where girls are encouraged to grow together, not compete for worth. We want them to experience what it feels like to be part of a team that values kindness, connection, and support.

We Value Social-Emotional Growth

As an educator, Dr. Barr understands that children learn and develop best in spaces that support the whole child.

That is why Blue Jays includes intentional moments of connection through our opening and closing circles. These moments are not filler. They are part of the club’s design.

Through greeting one another, participating in community, sharing, reflecting, practicing gratitude, and recognizing one another, girls are also building important social-emotional skills such as:

  • confidence
  • communication
  • emotional awareness
  • encouragement
  • self-expression
  • team connection

We believe these skills matter just as much as technique because they shape how girls carry themselves both inside and outside of the club.

We Believe Confidence Is Built, Not Assumed

Not every girl walks into a space feeling bold. Not every girl starts out feeling naturally comfortable performing, speaking up, or trying something new.

That is okay.

At Blue Jays, we believe confidence is something that can be built over time through repetition, encouragement, support, and positive experiences. We want girls to know they do not have to be the loudest, the fastest, or the most naturally skilled to belong here. Growth is welcome here. Learning is welcome here. Trying again is welcome here.

We are committed to helping girls develop real confidence — the kind that comes from being supported as they stretch, learn, and improve.

We Teach with Both Warmth and Structure

Children thrive when expectations are clear and the environment feels safe.

That is why Blue Jays is built on both warmth and structure. We want girls to have fun, but we also want them to learn discipline, teamwork, consistency, and respect. We believe these things can coexist beautifully.

Our approach is encouraging, but intentional. Positive, but purposeful. Joyful, but grounded in leadership.

We Are Building Sisterhood

Our tagline says it clearly: Spirit. Strength. Sisterhood.

Sisterhood is not just a nice word in our branding. It is a value we are actively building into the culture of this club. We want girls to learn how to celebrate one another, support one another, and grow alongside one another.

In a world where girls can be exposed to so much comparison, pressure, and insecurity, we believe it matters deeply to create spaces where they can experience healthy connection and community.

Why this Approach Is Different

What makes Blue Jays different is that we are not only asking, “What skills are the girls learning?”

We are also asking:

  • Who are they becoming in this space?
  • How are they being encouraged?
  • What kind of experience are they having with one another?
  • Are we helping them grow in confidence and connection, not just performance?

That is the difference in our model.

We care about the skills, absolutely. But we care just as much about the environment, the leadership, and the internal growth happening alongside those skills.

Our Commitment

At The Blue Jays Cheer & Dance Club, our commitment is to build a program that develops girls with intention.

We are committed to creating a place where girls can move, grow, connect, and shine — while developing the confidence, discipline, and sisterhood that will stay with them long after the session ends.

That is the heart of Blue Jays.

That is our philosophy.
